GATE students from Albertville Elementary and Evans Elementary wish everyone a "Merry Cultural Christmas!"  The Christmas tree at the Albertville City Board of Education has been decorated with ornaments handmade by over 100 3rd - 5th grade gifted students.  Albertville Elementary GATE students have been studying the cultures of China and Japan.  Students created origami figures in student led stations as well as centers led by ladies from Japan.  These ornaments, made from colorful origami paper, are in the shapes of fish, elf shoes, Santas, stars, wreaths, candy canes, puffy balls, and trees.  Students also created paper doll chains decorated to look like themselves.  GATE 5th graders from Evans have participated in the Great Mail Race by writing letters to students in other states to learn about each state.  Students created handmade ornaments resembling the flags of each state and ornaments with the state birds.  GATE students and teachers from AES and Evans wish everyone a "Merry Cultural Christmas" and hope that you will join with us to Celebrate our Differences as we embrace cultures and customs that are alike as well as different from our own.
